Hi all,

We have a release for June, see below for a list of changes between this
and the last release.

Also we are proud to anounce a new website for barebox, check it out on
http://www.barebox.org. We finally brought the new documentation
currently growing under Documentation online. Also check out our shiny
new logo. On first sight it may look like a 'b' for barebox, on second
sight there is a box in the b. Also the b itself looks like a factory,
stressing barebox' use in the embedded world. Thanks Sandro for creating
the logo.

Sascha

What is about adding new logo to the git repo?

We'll add it to the repo. Instead of adding multiple pngs in different
sizes I want to put the svg in the repo and some foo to convert it to
png in different sizes. So far librsvg looks like a good candidate for
converting the svg to png. I need some time though to write the makefile
magic.

Imagemagick (and therefore also probably /Graphicsmagic) allows this
from the command line:

convert -setTheOutputSizeOfThePng 1024x1024 test.svg test.png

And Inkscape (my SVG tool of choice) as well:

inkscape -z -e test.png -w 1024 -h 1024 test.svg

I like this approach! Old logo hierarchy was a little confusing.

That was my first choice aswell. 'convert' calls Inkscape in the
background, so you're lucky, 'convert' uses your SVG tool of choice
anyway ;). However, unfortunately it takes several seconds to convert
a single barebox logo, so converting the logo into different sizes will
take some time. Also Imagemagick has the problem that the transparent
background of the logo becomes white. I have found no solution even
after some digging and trying the different options to 'convert'. I'm
sure this problem is solvable though.

Hmm, this transparent background worked for me using the "inkscape -z
-e ..." method.

What setting do you background-color in File -> Document Properties
(near the top)? The Alpha-Channel must be set to 0 there.

I have attached my sample files.

I just tried that at home and it works. I'll try that on the box at work
next week. No idea what went wrong.
