This fixes building on an XFS partition on a 32 bit machine:
$ armmake -C ~/gsrc/barebox O=$PWD imx_defconfig
HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
fixdep: error fstat'ing depfile: scripts/basic/.fixdep.d: Value too large for defined data type
