In the kernel we have:
#define ALIGN_FUNCTION()  . = ALIGN(8)
#define STRUCT_ALIGNMENT 32
#define STRUCT_ALIGN() . = ALIGN(STRUCT_ALIGNMENT)

Could we use something similar here?
