I've had the same problem after updating my beaglebone project to a newer
barebox version.

Could you please check your barebox configuration?
The new config item "Allow multiple boards to be selected" in "System
Type"->"OMAP Features" needs to be selected. After that you should be able to select the "Phytec
phyCORE pcm051" board.

A rebuild will create a file called "am335x-phytec-phycore-dtb.S" in the
folder arch/arm/dts. This file contains the missing symbols.

Best regards,
 Rolf

Hello Rolf,

I used this Option already, but to be sure that there is no mistake I
reconfigured the Barebox and Barebox_MLO again and use the new Version
2014.07.0. The result is the same.

       LD images/start_am33xx_phytec_phycore_sram.pbl
    arch/arm/boards/built-in-pbl.o: In function `pcm051_board_init':
    :(.text.pcm051_board_init+0x94): undefined reference to
    `__dtb_am335x_phytec_phycore_start'
    make[2]: *** [images/start_am33xx_phytec_phycore_sram.pbl] Error 1
make[2]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
    make[1]: Leaving directory
    `/phytec/phyBOARD-WEGA-AM335x-PD13.0.0/platform-phyBOARD-WEGA-AM335x/build-target/barebox_mlo-2014.07.0'
    make[1]: *** [images] Error 2
    make: ***
    [/phytec/phyBOARD-WEGA-AM335x-PD13.0.0/platform-phyBOARD-WEGA-AM335x/state/barebox_mlo.compile]
    Error 2

I also attached the config files may be there is an other error?

Regards

Florian

thank you for the config files.

Please enable in both configs (barebox and barebox_mlo):
"Drivers" -> "Enable probing of devices from the devicetree".

Kind regards,
 Rolf

Hello Rolf,

thank you very much...
after I selected the mentioned entry in the menu the problem was solved...
but the board do not prompt any thing on the UART1... so I do not know
if barebox is loaded
from the sd-card or not...

Regards Florian

When using mainline barebox please build the am335x_mlo_defconfig for
the MLO and the am335x_defconfig for the main binary. The images
are then found under:

images/barebox-am33xx-phytec-phycore-mlo.img
images/barebox-am33xx-phytec-phycore.img

I diffed you config against the mainline config and the following
options are really crucial to let the binary work correctly:

-CONFIG_TEXT_BASE=0x0
-CONFIG_MALLOC_SIZE=0x0
-CONFIG_MALLOC_TLSF=y
-CONFIG_RELOCATABLE=y
+CONFIG_TEXT_BASE=0x402F0400
+CONFIG_STACK_SIZE=0x1600
+CONFIG_MALLOC_SIZE=0x1000000

Sascha

from memory, i noticed earlier that when i configured for
am335x_defconfig, then did "make menuconfig", i was asked whether i
wanted to build the MLO file as well. does that mean i can generate
both the MLO and second stage from a single build? or am i
misunderstanding what i saw?

The option has no effect when OMAP_MULTI_BOARDS is enabled which is the
case for the am335x boards. I just sent out a patch to hide the options.

in fact, these settings are essential.
If you still can't see anything, you can also enable the config item "Debugging"
-> "low level debug messages". With this option enabled, you should at least see
a '>' on UART1 right after power-on. This character will be output at the end of
function pcm051_board_init().
If you like to debug the further startup, you could also enable the "Debugging"
-> "Trace initcalls" option in barebox_mlo config.

Best regards,
 Rolf

Hello Rolf,
Hello Sascha,

I tried your hints... but I don't get the prompt ">" after a while my
Desktop-PC say that a Ethernet connection is established thats all I can
not ping or connect to the pyhBoard-Wega-AM335x. But nothing is
transmitted on the Evaluation Board (PEB-EVAL-01). Do I need some
patches or something else?

Sorry but I have no idea which information I can send you to help me
with my problem...

Thanks again

Florian

Hello Florian,

I guess you having the default kit WEGA, which does have 256MB RAM. The mainline supported
phyCORE Kit does have 512MB. Thats probably why it does not start up.

I'll have a look at it.

Teresa

I'm not 100% sure, but I can imagine that the ">" should also appear when
the SDRAM configuration is not correct. But nevertheless the correct
SDRAM setting is important. Maybe, you can check the SDRAM setting of your
previous barebox-2013.11. I assume, the old barebox was running properly,
wasn't it?

Florian, could you please check the size of your 1st stage bootloader
(MLO) binary?
It must not exceed 111616 byte! Otherwise it will not boot.
You can shrink the size by removing all unnecessary stuff from the
barebox_mlo configuration.

Best regards,
 Rolf

Hello Rolf,

after I apply the Patch from Teresa I got the ">".
Yes the last barebox worked. Yesterday I configured the new barebox in
the same way as the old one and got the ">" the size of my image is only
93260 bytes so it should work but it do not work. So I will spend no
more time with the phyWega and wait for the phyCore Kit and start there
my next try.

Thanks for your helping

Florian

Hello...

now I have a working Barebox 2014.07 on the pyhCore...

   * I used the attached configuration
   * Generated a patch to the git (commit
     9d7b0ba957a665d6013c4fa53df04ac324618a40)
   * For NAND support it is important to enable *CONFIG_BUS_OMAP_GPMC*

after that the Barebox starts and boots the Linux Kernel from my SD-Card...

Thanks for everyone

Florian

If this is something that is mandatory for the board, maybe the board
should then select it in the Kconfig?

Hello,

I like to update from barebox 2013.11 to barebox 2014.06.0 with the
phyBoard-Wega-AM335x. After reconfigure the barebox I get the error:
